I have a 58 560 gas I'am overhauling and the pistons I took out are M&W pistons that are 3 11/16 and they should be 3 9/16 did the last owner bore out the block or do I have a diesel block on the tractor?I looked for a casting number on the block but I can't find one.and if so will I have to put a diesel overhaul kit in it?

Right now your cid is 282 like that was used in the diesel engines but the diesel was a flat piston with a small cumbustion cup so thats not a option because of low compression for the gas engine.M&W must of had a overbore kit that you had to bore the block for the sleeves and bigger pistons. The 291 had sleeves with a 3 3/4 bore. You need to measure your block to see if these would work.Next option is go sleeveless and use 301 pistons in std which is 3 13/16 40 and 60 over. This is what the 806 gas had and some combines.

Well you could get the 263 to 291 over bore and bore the block out and make it a 291 and still have a sleeved block that is rebuildable

The engine displacment should be stamped on a pad on the block beside the oil filter base.
