Having trouble getting a 1206 DT361 timed any sugguestions

You could take all plug wires off and then take one wire and put it on no. 1 plug and try cranking. If no fire try it on no. 2 plug and continue until one plug fires. Then put the other plug wires on in firing order. It still could be off a little but you can turn the distributor a little to fine tune.

Not trying to be smart but I believe the DT 361 he's talking about is a diesel motor. Ross

I wasn't famalier with the model. That sure would make a difference, be hard putting those plug wires back on a diesel. LOL

Pull the valve cover and turn it till both valves on # 1 and loose then look at the timming marks on the flywheel and set as per spec. , if ya got the pump off and the shaft still in the gear make sure that the dot on the pump shaft is aligned with the DOT inside where the shaft goes.

Should be 8 degrees before top dead center on the flywheel markings then line up the marks in the pump window.

do you have the distributor 180 degrees off???


should be 3 degrees TDC..
