Is there any way to put a front snow plow on a BN with some sort of mechanical or hydraulic/PTO driven lift? It had the old exhaust lift but all of that stuff is long gone. Thanks

Guys,
I have a blade mounted on my BN. It uses a electric winch to lift and lower the blade. The rest was made of of scrap metal. I purchased the tractor with it on it and have used it all this winter so far. I plan on rebuilding the whole setup as soon as the snow is gone. If you want some pictures for ideas let me know. Almost any thing can be made for them if, you have the time, money and know how, and tools. So yes you could make a plow for it and it would probably do ok with it if you didn't make one that was to big.

I had a plow on my bn. To mount the plow I took of the front draw bar. Used the holes to mount a piece of 6" chanle iron. Put the push arms on the chanle iron.
1. As for lifting. I used a 12 volt ele/hyd unit. Got that unit off a old tommy lift gate.
2.I have seen a lot of power steering pumps used.
3. There are manual lift for the bn. That did not stay on very long.Lifted prety hard. BILL

Hi Bob, been wondering the same thing about our B.
No blade was made for this tractor as I understand it, but I am not above making a blade and figuring a way to mount it. I don't mind hand pivoting the blade angle either. My problem is raising and lifting. Too unfamiliar with the hand lifts that came with other implements and no one near me has one I can look at. Checked out the original exhaust lift but decided that this was more trouble than it was worth. Currently wondering if I could not run some type of pump and reservoir off the PTO. Saw a post recently of something I thought might be similar to that but the kid that posted it would not describe it and referred me to the photo archives. Struck out there. Let me know what you find out on this. Maybe if we pool some ideas we can come up with something. I was thinking mid-mount instead of front.

Be sure to hook a short chain or cable from the tractor front end to the plow so the plow can only drop a limited amount. So you can never drive over the plow if the front wheels raise as you push hard. I know this can happen.

If you choose a hand lift, do not lift on the push, rather do it as soon as you back up from the pile. Be sure to consider helper springs, perhaps from a tractor salvage yard to offset the weight. Dave NE IA
