Am purchasing a Farmall A and ID tag is missing as seat has been replaced. How can I find out what year tractor is? Thanks!!

The casting codes will also help telling you the year it was made.

Look under No1 sparkplug on the block for a SN .

Provided the engine block has not been changed, the serial number stamped on it will be close to, if not the same as, the tractor's serial number.

There are also dates on each major casting. They'll be encoded with the year as a letter, something like "Y 10 11", which would mean the 11th of October on some year. The letters have been mentioned here many times and I'm sure someone knows what letter equates to what year.
