Almost time to pull the 706 in the shop for the engine rebuild.

Get ready for alot of very dumb questions from me.

Going to pull the head get it done over by a pro.

Going to do sleeves, pistons, rings and also main and rod bearings.
Wait till I get to the part of the main bearings with out pulling the crank..... SHould be a hoot if I can pull that off.

Kelly i agree with the other posts how about the 300 i like lookingin on your website to see the progress you do on it and it looks like you havent worked on her in a while. By the way you got a nice collection of tractors going their. Good to see people farming with old equipment.

Actually the 300 is all back together. Just not running yet.
I got it to pop over with a shot of ether but then noticed that I had coolant leaking into the cylinders. I have it drained and need to pull the head. Maybe not tight enough or some thing else like a crack.
Will work on it at the same time as the 706.

I was pressure washing the engine of my 706 today getting ready to pull it in the shop to. It has about 700 hours on a dealer overhaul but it has a knock that started last winter in no, six cylinder. I'am thinking a loose sleeve or wrist pin as it has even compression in all cylinders. So we both will be asking dumb questions.

If it was a loose sleeve it would be in the oil pan by now , wrist pin maybe a broken skirt or ya scored the sleeve and this can happen in a heart beat running reg gas and usualy happens on #6 first as that cylinder runs the hottest and the leanest .

The old girl has always had the high octane gas and she has'nt been worked hard, just unrolling hay bales for the beef cows in the winter. I'am thinking its not a scored sleeve because it has good compression in that cylinder but could be a piston skirt or wrist pin as the knock quiets out some when she warms up.

Is that one a Diesel? Looks like a nice tractor. Are you going to paint it up too?

Its a gasser.
I think I may do a assembly line paint job early in the spring.
Put a coat of IH2150 on the 400, 706 and the 300 at the same time.
