Thanks Keith, family first. I think I have got the Mitsibishi alt half figured out. The R terminal goes to the ignition, L terminal normally would go to a alt light? How did you wire yours, and did you use a blocking diode to prevent battery drain?

If R-Cube is reading this, on the original discussion, it looks like the smaller import alternators are a better choice for Cubs with clearance problems but my Cub has the Delco 10SI and I have seen others with it. Maybe the bracket has to be just right or the hood on the later models was more generous?? In answer to his original question, there are several options available with internally regulated alts and you can check out the articles on this site or check the archives for Bob M posts on the subject.

Yes, I'm watching. Spent the day in the country working on my klunkers. (65 miles from my computer) I have a 1947 Cub and I never tried to put a 10SI on it but it looks way too big. Probably depends on the mounts. May have to modify the mount considerably. I saw a pic of a guy's Farmall with a big slice taken out of the hood to clear an alternator. I can't tolerate that.
