Brother reported yesterday the 504's steering wheel flew up about 6" and a hydraulic oil flood appeared running down the dash casting, platform and everything else.

Investigation revealed massive failure of the steering control unit (?) Appears not only the shaft blew out of the housing, the housing is broken too.

Other than attempting (maybe in vain) to contact CIH for parts, where would one turn for repair items?

Anyone familiar with this problem? Seems to me, someone I was talking to recently had the same failure. Just can't recall who that was.

The 504's steering unit is common to what else? 404, 544....what?

Here's a web site for more tractor salvage yards.
The list is 26 pages long. Hal

I would contact Kevin Worley at Worley Farm Salvage in Campbellsburg, IN. I can vouch for them 100%. Their website is >Link

Does your 504 have a 4 line or a 2 line unit.
