Just bought a 1968 farmall 756. Alternator is not charging (3 wire). Having the alternator looked at, however, I can't locate the regulator. Where were they typically located? All wiring appears to be factory (no apparent modifications).

Thanks Guys for the quick response. One more question. Alternator guy is recommending a 1 wire alternator with and internal regulator. He claims that all I would have to do is connect the 10 gauge batt wire to the alternator and disconnect the "idiot light". Any thoughts?? Also, where might I find a wiring diagram.

Tell him to take his one wire and stuff it where the sun don't shine as i have never seen one that is worhte a darn they all drain a battery if ya don't run it every day . Next time ya need and alt. for a farmall pull the pulley off the old one and go to auto zone or pepboys or what ever and just get one of theres and put your pulley back on . Because you will not like the price of one from Case I H now that is only if it has the big wide belt pulley them things are about 80 bucks.

I agree. I'm not a big fan of the DN externally regulated that came from the factory on those tractors, but they're way better than the one wire. If I was going to go through all the work of switching to a different alternator, it would be a 3 wire 10SI.

Like the others have said down by your feet , remove the two 3/8th bolts and remove the kick panel and it is wright there . I have gotten away from the mechanical reg. and gone to the electroinic ones they work better and alot longer and they fit in the same place and they also just plug in.

It should be behind the cover between the clutch peddle and the left brake peddle.
