Yesterday I was out dragging out the half melted snow out of the drive with my B and I decided to take a quick cruise around the village. Well it was a pretty nice day and there were only 6 kids out and 1 Dad out playing in the snow. 3 were brothers and they are transplanted Farm kid like myself. I guess I just don't get it. I am 41 and I still like to play in the snow!

Well, the video games provide much more entertainment! Why try to "invent" games to keep yourself occupied when there are tons of games your parents can spend their hard earned money on for you?

I miss the snow. Even made a snowman when I was still in college... and a snow angel too. Last winter we were back in ND for Christmas, but no snow :o( Hopefully this year!

I love to play in the snow! With the farmall A! Man is that fun. I also like to skate. You see, I am only 17, and dont know how to run a cell phone,x box, and all that other stuff very good, heck i can hardly run a computer. I have heard of kids that i know by one of them mp3 players, for $200 plus, it's about the size of the pc mouse, i just shake my head, and think of what i would do with that money, like go towards tractors.owell, if you like electronics, thats fine, i'll stick with the ol farmalls.

Even at an over the hill age of 30...I still go out and play pond hockey with the local kids every chance I get. It"s so d*mn cold your lungs freeze in the first twenty minutes, but it"s an absolute blast! Technology has it"s place, but you can"t replace fun and excercise! Let"s keep the ice and cold coming!

And no matter what anybody says...beer still tastes good at 0 degrees, just as well as 80 degrees!

I agree with you and I need to keep it up because I have a 8 month old that I hopw to have fun with in the snow. I need to find a BIG old toboggin like we had when I was a kid And pull the wife and the Baby (when he gets old) around with the B or Super A like Dad did with us.

Today's kids have all sorts of distractions we didn't have growing up. Think about it, Xboxes, iPods, PC Games, Video games, Cable TV with 200+ channels, Instant msgs, Web Browsing, etc etc .... so why go out and get wet and cold when you can have all that fun staying inside and warm?

I think they call this "progress". Progress indeed!

Merry Xmas .... WPT

I understand parents giving there kids "what for" for losing mits and coming in with snow. But I have to think what kind of health the next generation will have at our age.
Life is geting so sterile and "safe". When I think of how we played as kids I wonder what my parents were thinking. But then... Maybe they knew it was "healthy".
There's an old saying that every kid needs to eat a bushel of dirt in his lifetime. I think that's natures way of establishing your immune system... And afterall with the condition of the snow, eating a bushel of dirt may be easier today!

I have a feeling it’s because they have other ways to entertain themselves like cable (or satellite) TV, video games, instant messaging, and cell phones and mom and or dad not chasing them out of the house for exercise. I know cause I’m guilty of the above with my own kids to a point… No, not being a hypocrite, just trying to alkalize and answer your question…

I don't know, I went over to visit the Little Cowman after church and he was outside playing in the snow. I would have just as soon stayed inside.

When I was a kid, unless we were sledding down the Hospital Hill, I simply HATED playing in the snow. Going down a 70-degree slope lined with pine trees taught us what zero-to-60 times and brute acceleration were all about.

But if you got wet and got sick, you caught hell for not having better sense. If you dragged any snow into the house, and it made a mess, you caught hell. If you fell down in the ice and got hurt, it was your own stupid fault for being out in the #$%@* stuff. If you lost a glove or a toboggan hat, Lord have mercy on your soul, 'cause that stuff don't grow on trees!

So I learned to hate playing in the snow. Probably what some of the kids today see and hear, and why they don't play in it, either.

Brute acceleration?
When I first read that I was thinking "well 32ft/sec squared is all you could possibly get with gravity and that'd only be if you were actually falling.
Then it occured to me you might be talking about the brute giving you a push down the hill... ;)
