Geees, have another question for you guys this morn, need to keep you all on your toes.

Anyway, to remove starter ring from SC flywheel, do you heat it and remove it as one does with other starter rings. Just want to turn it over to get the good side facing starter. It isn't really that bad, but figured I would go ahead and switch, "rather than fight".....:>) :>)

thanks everyone

Can't say for sure, the only starter ring I have ever replaced was on a Ford truck. The flywheel was off so I just laid the flywheel face down on the work bench and used a hammer and punch to drive the old one off, gentle taps, working my around the circumference until the ring was free. It really was fairly easy and quick. I then heated the new ring and installed it.

Rusty, it is the same as Ford you changed out and same as any other starter ring that I have replaced over the years.

I just heated it a little and it almost fell off. The only thing I noticed, was that the inner side was beveled as to aid in installation. I flipped it over reheated and it went right back on, so now we have good side out....

Are the teeth beveled on both sides?

John, teeth are not beveled on either side. It's beveled on the part of the ring that mates up to the flywheel.
