Hi Everyone,

Does anybody ahve any experience with the wiring that is for sale here and even ebay for the farmall H? Does it include everything i'll need? Becasue the wiring that is on the 1946 H i recenlty bought really needs replacing. It doesn't inculde battery cables does it? But i assume that it includes everything else, like wire from the igntion on swtich to the stater button, and the wire from starter button to starter?? I hope they aren't too complicated to put on. BTW....Does anybody know which one would be right for a 1946 h? Regualtor on generator or under fuel tank? I'm not at my tractor to see it's at a differnt location. But i'm thiknig the regualtor is on the gnerator?

Also does anyone know where i could get the 0 guage size for the battery cable onlnie? That website that somebody posted from NY has 1 guage but no 0 guage..... I tihk i'll probably need 24-30 inches to get from the battery to the starter switch. Is that close?

Any shop that works on truck tractors should have 00 cable. May even make one for you. You should use a tape & measure the distance from battery to
starter. Same with the ground cable. Hal

I too thought they were a bit pricy. I know they aren't that complicated...wire from bat to stater switch, ignition to stater switch, stater switch to starter,and lots and such. I'll have to look into the best way to get it done...it'll last for now...But the wires are quite old and need replacing.The guy who painted it before i purcahsed it painted all over the terminals and connections and i really think it's affecting my connections

I would agree with Peabody on making your harness.
Just change one wire at a time. You can make your battery cables too. Use 00 battery cable and solder spades on the ends. Hal

Ryan, right around the corner from me here in Western NY is a gent with a small business making these harnesses.> >Link< He's good to talk with and very helpful.

Making your own is easy enough, just slow, simply need the correct guage wires, and you won't likely have the various coding for tracing.

Ryan, No, the wiring harnesses do NOT include battery cables, but should include everything else. My experience with purchased harnesses is that I can make them myself a WHOLE LOT CHEAPER. Typical letter series Farmall harnesses are very simple, just study the wiring diagram. At first glance an old Farmall can seem to have a very complicated wiring scheme, but typically it's because over the years wires have been bypassed or cut loose and left hanging, so there's a cobweb of unneeded wiring still running all over the place.

I never have seen how they justify charging so much for these sets. You can purchase authentic cloth-covered wire from John R. Brillman Company (do websearch)or they sell the harnesses also.
