My neighbor contacted me and said that he has a NOS service meter which he believes is for an M. He said that the part # on the box is 49450DA. Does anyone know if this will fit an M and where it installs at? Is there any special brackets needed for it? I don"t really need it for my tractor but he said to make him an offer on it. Any idea on what they are selling for? I would hate to insult him.

Took one off of a M. The meter attaches to the timing cover. Uses a worm gear on dist. drive gear.

The number is correct according to my original parts manual. It looks like you will need a few other parts in order to install it and make it functional, the manual shows a gasket,49451D, a shaft, 51739D, a drive gear,51001D, and a retainer, 21362D. It does not show a mounting bracket, maybe it mounts directly to the magneto?
I don't know, and I don't have any idea on the price, but I would think it could be worth quite a bit.

Goes on timing cover part of attachment.(not on standard M)You would need the cover and other parts to use it unless you have the drive on tractor alresdy. Its worth something.
