Plenty of W-6 tractors had the same front wheels as the M. If you are looking for the solid cast front wheels, I think those were used mainly on the orchard tractors but some W-6s may have had them.

Charge the battery, clean & tighten battery cables. Check alternator for charging after you have the tractor running. You should be able to see where your alternator bracket should go. It should be slotted too for adjustment. If you don't think you can fabricate a bracket check with your local metal shop. That's a piece of cake for them. Hal

Charge your battery, make a new alternator bracket, and set a cold beer in that oil can holder. Problem solved except for the wheels....since I'm not familiar with the details, what's the difference between W-6 and M wheels?

Hi ron,
the difference is that W-6 wheel,s are solid cast,
& M, or H wheel,s are two piece with different mounting bracket,s,a Y shape, instead of meatal tab,s like the W-6,s,yea that oil can holder would fit a can of beer too ron, whether or not I would run it with the beer in it and drink it while on tractor is another matter,HAHA,
Im gonna charge up battery and clean cable,s,
check alternator too,
thanks for responding back soo soon, Kirk in Alton kansas,

Hi Kirk. Not sure if you're right about the wheels...maybe you're thinking I-6 instead of W-6? The solid cast wheels could have been an option for the w-6....

Here's a pic of a w-6 taken off the tractor photos link at the left of this page that has what I think you're calling "H and M" style wheels. Go there(the tractor photos) and do a search for "w-6" and you'll see alot of pics. I looked at several and they all had this type of front wheel.

Nah, don't run the tractor with your beer in that holder. It'd get all foamy! Just drink it while the tractor's sitting in the shop after a successful evening of working on it!

I'm confused. Do you have a problem you want to fix, or are you parting out the tractor because it won't start?
