We are trying to find out where we can get a pulley for the alternator on our tractor. We are close to finishing up a restoration project but lack this pulley. Does anyone know where we can find one. Thank you

If you are restoring the tractor why are you using an ALT? Better make sure the pulley is smaller than the one on the fan or you wont have enough rpms to do any good as this happens a lot.

If you are replacing a Delco generator with a Delco alternator, the pulley should swap over from one to the other.

Where is Gene Bender these days? Not like him to let a Farmall B question go by.

I buy Browning cast iron pulleys with integral bore and then bore them on a lathe to fit the alternator. The hub must be removed by facing and the other side requires a slight counterbore for the retaining nut. Do not use smaller than 2 1/2" pulley. As best I remember, the Delco has a 17mm shaft.

Since an alternator is not original, I don't know if an original generator pulley would fit or not.

I would try an alternator/starter shop. They should have a selection to choose from. If it's a one wire alternator, try to get the smallest diameter pulley that will fit.

These folks might be able to help you too.

sommer: Not exactly sure this will work for B, but it works well on all offsets like A, SA, 100, 130 and 140. If you use a double V pulley from 70s early 80s GM V8 it works well. By using the V fartherest from alternator, this will give just enough clearence to allow you to tuck that alternator in close to block and low enough so it doesn't interfere with hood. I mount alternators on SA by welding a flat 3/16" plate on top of old generator mount then just weld tabs on flat plate for alternator to pivot on.

They recommend using a smaller pulley with the
alternator since these engines have a max rpm around 1500. Try Wengers at 1-800-451-5240. Hal
