Dave Perhaps you are aware of this, and I do not know for sure but alot of the overdrives seem to raise the price--I persoanly felt that the 9 speed actualy made the M's a real tractor. The biggest problem with the M's and H's was to big of a jump between 4th and 5th. Overdrive puts 4 more gears between 4th and 5th. The ones I am around goes 1-4 in low range (standard) then the overdrive shifted and main shift put back into 1st then 2nd 3rd and 4th--5th it did not change. When the overdrive was shifted it incressesed the PTO speed as well. Dave NE IA

all I want is what the overdrive transmission adds or detracts in value from the origional tranny. A little information on what the overdrive tranny looked like or worked would also be appreciated. Thanks.

I think what these guys are trying to tell you is "value" is in the eye of the beholder, to coin a phrase. It is worth a lot more to someone that has to have it for some reason and has plenty of money than to the average bargain hunter. (like me) And it depends on if it's on a mint tractor or a klunker, still in the box or working on the tractor, etc. These things don't have set "book" prices.

Dave I forgot to mention that I think Heystler made the overdrives--non factory add on. Just general numbers, but I got one for a F20 or 30 a decade ago and if I remember its value was approx $150.00. Another for a WC Allis I think $75.00. Both were in a box and still are in the box, you know one of those jobs that will get done the first day it rains --- I said that for the last ten years. I'm sorry I have not seen or heard of a M overdrive selling in our area. Dave NE IA

IMHO all things being about equal, I would pay $100-$200 more for an M with a 9 speed over one with out. For an H about 1/2 that because the H lacks sufficient power to take advantage of the faster gearing. What's your opinion? Dick Davis

Hi , I have a 9-speed on my M but I don't know if it's a factory special or a aftermarket M&W kit , either way I really like it . On the value I can't help out . Mine is shifted with a push-pull cable setup . If I bought another M I'd look for one with it installed and pay a little more for it . The jump between 4th and 5th is to extreme without it , besides sometimes 4th is too slow and 5th to fast without idling way down and losing power . ...Randy
