My Dad has an International C, he calls it a cultivator tractor, up in Nevada. It only has a single front wheel and all of them that I have seen have two. Does anyone have a picture of a tractor like that; he thinks it’s around 1949. It was also converted to LP gas and I don’t think it came like that.

Thanks,

My next project is a farmall C with a single front wheel. Actually all three farmalls I own have a single front wheel. F-12, B, and C. And in our JD collection over half of 14 tractors have a single front wheel. In this area its actually more normal. I don't have any pictures of the C, but I could by tomorrow. Let me know if you want some pictures.

The tractor is a Farmall C rather than International C. The C was available with; single front wheel, dual front tricycle, or wide front axle. You are right that the LPG is a conversion. There are some C and Super C pictures on the tractor gallery.

Dad insists that it has International rather than Farmall written on it, but again he is 88 years old. I need to go take another look and get the serial number.

Thanks,

There is no such thing as a International C. The tractor is made by International Harvester Company. It may have been repainted and has the wrong decals on the hood. The side of the hood should have McCormick in small letters over Farmall in large letters. The serial number prefix should be FC. The C was only made as a row crop tractor which is a Farmall. Later versions such as a 240 were built as a utility (International 240) and a rowcrop (Farmall 240). Lots of people call Farmalls Internationals and lots of people call Internationals Farmalls in error.

Harold: Come on, lighten up just a bit, Joe apparently hasn't seen the tractor or at least never gave it much attention. His dad is 88 and if he wishes to call it International, so what.

It wasn't Joe or his dad that gave these tractors multipul names. As I see it the McCormick family are the ones responcible.

My dad called his manure spreader a Frost & Wood, 20 years after Cockshutt bought the company, and even though the manure spreader had Cockshutt decals. The spreader had been Frost & Wood design. His grain drill however was Cockshutt design with Cockshutt decals. He called that one Frost & Wood as well. Probably the single biggest reason, while the dealer did put up the new Cockshutt sign, the old Frost and Wood sign remained in place long after Cockshutt was gone. In fact it wouldn't surprise me if the Frost & Wood sign is still there.

Hugh,

I didn't mean to come on too strong. I stated that lots of people call Farmalls International and lots of people call Internationals Farmall. IHC should have done like most other manufacturers and called all of their models by one name and that would have made things much simpler.

Harold: You are quite correct. The McCormicks or IH created a state of confusion, only the most avid of farmers or dealers could keep straight.

I was looking through the photo adds last evening, saw listed a Farmall 350 Utility. Thought to myself, what the H@!! is that. Took a look, you guessed it, International 350 Utility, nothing Farmall about it.

It seems that even IH couldn't keep it straight all the time. I have an original copy of Parts Catalog TC-47, 6-16-52. The title?
"Farmall Super W-6 and WD-6 Tractors"

I have an I&T manual for a 460 Utility, the "artist" that designed the cover put "Farmall" on the hood.

Hal: As I recall the spreader in question went to the scrap pile back in Nova Scotia close to 50 years ago. Now I could ship you a load of manure, however you may just be getting weed seeds not native to your area. Having been an avid gardener most of my life, strange weeds are something one does not need. Heck at our age, only a strange woman could be worse.

We had a C and I think it was Farmall on the hood.
It had the NFE too. My IH manual has a WFE for the C & Super C. Hal
