How common (or uncommon) is a 1066 with 34 inch rear rims?

There is one here locally. It's the only one I think I've ever ran across.

Mitch

I have 23.1 X 34s on my 1468 and it sets level. The front tires are 10.00 X 16. If you look at the Firestone spec sheet there is only an inch difference in 23.1 X 34 (71.2 diameter) and 20.8 X 38 (72.2 diameter)

I bought the tires, wheels & rims for FARMALL during the 86-series & early 88-series production runs. You could order just about ANY size wheels & tires on ANY Farmall tractor. Even on the 86-series the 34" rubber was about the second most popular tire size used, even over the 20.8X38. And the 18.4 X 38 was the most popular by far. We still built a few 786 & 886's with 15.5 X 38's. You could even specify brand on the rears for a few Dollars extra if You wanted to wait for Your tractor to be built as opposed to buying off the lot. As GARY said, Biggest factor was what You had for duals. I bet 80-90% of IH's duals were shipped just the hubs, wheels, & hardware, Farmer supplied His own tires

That 66 must sit back. I have a 1066 with 38' and it is level. I assume the 38's are or were stock. A guy was telling me he ordered some 38's online and they were cheap, real cheap.

John,

There was a 886 in here at the local dealer last week that had 34's on it.

Weirdest looking duck ya ever saw. Looked like it had been run thru a chop-shop.

Allan

I have a 966 with 34's and really wish it has the 38's. Clearance is an issue with the 34's as a couple turns on the wheel and you are hung up. Also traction.

I am hoping to change out soon with step rims to 38's

Hey Mitch, I may not be the best expert but from what I have been told, and in doing some reading the first 1066"s that were produced came out with 34 rears, and were rated with less hp. I guess like anything else, make the first models and get better from there. Someone will probably know more about this than I do. Hey I finially put those 20.8"s on my 10 and took a few pulls to get gears, weights and tire pressure worked out. ((Still deployed should be home by the first of the year, send me a E-mail sometime)))

Mitch, My ol 966 still has 18.4x34s on it. I can't say its effects it preformance any at all. Though it looks a little hunkered down in the rear end.
Later,
John A.

I agree with tractor vet but we ordered a 966 with 34's to match the duals we already had in back in '73.
