Found the speedi-sleeve section on the Chicago Rawhide site. Would anyone know what size I would need? They say to doa bunch of measurements on the shaft at the highpoint near the grooved worn area. I installed a new seal and so far it's holding but I haven't used the tractor much, so I figured if it fails I'll try the sleeve deal. Cheaper than a new pump...which I did see new on eBay for $300, half the price of one from IH. Thanks as always...

I've used Speedi Sleeves a couple of times. I just went to the local bearing house(Motion Industries) and took the shaft with me. They measured the shaft and ordered the appropiate sleeve. They've always fit ok.

That's right. Measure the shaft very accurately and buy the appropriate sleeve with the correct I.D.

A tip: The sleeves are thin enough that they can sometimes "form" into the groove in the shaft after you've installed it. If it does, you will have another leak. To counter this, I clean the shaft thoroughly, then fill the grooves with JB Weld, or a similar product, let it dry, and sand it flush with the unworn part of the shaft. Repeat if you have gaps. Then install the sleeve over the top. The filler prevents the sleeve from sinking into the groove. Make sure the filler is fully dry (24 hours at least) and sanded very smooth.
