My 1950 H has 3 cylinder head stud holes near the center of the head that have sleeves. The studs go up thru these sleeves. I am having trouble with coolant leaking around the outside of 2 of these sleeves, both top and bottom. What is the best way to seal these?

If the head gasket is good, there should be no coolant there. Since there is, I assume you are replacing the gasket.

If the head is cracked into the stud holes (quite possible) there is no fix, you need a rebuilt, new, good used head.

If the head/block is pitted near the sleeves, they can be resurfaced (the head more than the block) to smooth out the pits.

Thorough cleaning and use of a thin film of JB weld, followed by flat sanding with 220 paper might also help the pitted area to seal if resurfacing is not happening.

Good luck, JimN
