I would have to say that being an M kind of guy, that my rare tractor would be the MDV. I had the chance to get one once but didn't have the money that he was asking. Kind of a rare tractor for my area and for the period.

Couple of fun little trators that are not rare or overly expensive. Farmall Cubs and the B Farmall.

My most desired is the H or 4 series in any configuration. Some can be quite rare.

Desired and rare, I would agree with a SMTAD.

IH was fortunate to sell alot of tractors. It is the options that make them rare. Put on some half-tracks, an Electral, and Elwood FWA and you would have something. IH must have tested the fast hitch on a SMTA, so put that on too. I could actually do that but the whole tractor would be worth less than the parts.

I have a SMTA-D with a fast hitch on it. The tractor was sold new 10 miles from me and has stayed in the community all of its life. 4 owners. The fast hitch was dealer installed with factory authorization and instructions. I was told it was done only a few months after the tractor was sold new and this was a project IHC was doing as ptototyping for the 400's which were coming out with the fast hitch option.

Kewl !!!

Does it have the 400 rockshaft? Did the dealer use a 400 rear frame lid? Can you post pictures?

I have several SMTAs but did the Fast Hitch changeover myself using 400 parts.

It is not related to rare, but in my opinion, the most desired letter series IHC tractor is whichever one you personally like the best.

In the letter series you don't see many A's in my area.

I always thought it would be neat to take a pair of M's and restore one just like it came off the line and restore the other with all the add on goodies I could find. Would be realy neat if you could even add FWA. I remember seeing a M with a original age FWA at a Ageless Iron Show years back.
