Hello,

What do the letters FA preceeding teh serial number of an F-20 mean? Also, what do the letters TA in the same spot mean, since I have seen tractors with both. Thanks

The "FA" stands for nothing. It's just the letters that IH decided to use for the prefix letters. These letters were used throughout the entire production lifecycle. The "TA" series were only built during 1934 and not after. There were 661 "TA" series F-20s built. They were a hybrid between the F-20 and the Farmall Regular, using up old rear end castings. The Regular used the letter "T", and the F-20 used "FA", so I assume the "TA" was some sort of a compromise lettering scheme.

FA: 1934 and prior
TA: late 34 and after

T&A is still the best designation though.
