my water has left the radiator and ended up in the oil. The tractor has been sittining all summer waiting on me to redo it. I don"t know that it has ever been rebuilt i just bought it about a year ago it runs fine starts good I wondered if I just needed a new head gasket or should I rebuild it?

Before you get all excited about pulling pistons and sleeves and such, I believe I would pull the head first and see if you see signs of leakage across the head gasket. Much easier fix if that is so, or it could be a cracked block, or leaky sleeve(s), as said. Anyway, either a new head gasket with copper spray on both sides and properly torqued down and/or some Barr's "Stop Leak" might do the trick, before tackling a sleeve job.

Your wet sleeves may be leaking water into the oil pan. You can check this by removing the oil
pan & then fill the radiator with some water and watch for leaks around the sleeves. Don't leave the water in if you're located where it may freeze. Be sure to drain the block of any water.

The correct way to fix the problem would be to pull the head, pistons and sleeves. Then you can remove the old seals. To go to all this work you may as well install a new sleeve & piston kit. New seals will come with the kit. That area in the block needs to be clean thoroughly
where these sleeves are installed. There's usually rust scale and dirt in that area. This needs to done whether you go with a new kit or just install new seals. Hal
