My 330U is in need for a new alternator and I got one a new 10SI type to replace the old one. Well, i tried to jump start my 330U with my 12 volt Ford like I have been doing for the past couple days. Today all i got from the 330U was a a single click near the starter or solenoid once I turned the key. The weather was below freezing today if that matters.

My 330U acted the same way Thursday. I knew I had a good battery and clean connections, so, I removed the starter and made sure that it was free. When I remounted the starter it fired right up. I guess it has a worn spot on the ring gear. JRV

Been there, done that, over and over. Did you have some wet weather before it got cold? Get some heat on the starter solenoid and it should start.A gallon of hot water works quick and dirty, but lets it freeze up worse the next time. Some times if you just keep clicking it the solenoid will warm up enough to work. Several times I have gotten impatient/desperate and just hooked the booster cables right to the starter terminal, bypassing the solenoid completely. My next idea is to move the solenoid up under the dash somewhere where it wil stay dry, I just haven't gotten to it yet.

A single click like that tells me that you have a bad connection some where. I'd guess you need to clean the battery cables/battery post and put it back togeather. Remember clean tight and brite. Most of the time a single click says it arced at a battry terminal and then you had no more contact with the battery, and unless your jumper cables are very very big cables you just plain aren't getting the zap you need.

I think you should get a fully charged battery and see if that fixes the problem. If it still just clicks your solenoid may be the problem. Hal

PS: Clean all battery connections & cables nice & shiny including where your battery is grounded
& at the starter where your battery cable attaches.
