I am just looking for input from some of you guys out there.

I found a slightly above average Farmall A with cultivators. Nothing special, just exceptional tin and 6 volt generator. Average tires, etc. just a workhorse tractor.

I also found a Super A with rougher tin and a weld on the block behind the card. it has a 12 volt alt. on it. Again average tires and cultivators.. Nothing exceptional about this one either.

Here is the kicker. Both are at a tractor dealership. Neither has wheel weights. He is asking $1200 for the straight A and $1500 for the SA. He will take $2500 for the pair. They are located in Kentucky so it seems to be a good deal from what I have seen locally, what do you all think?

If you're determined to get A's, I'd try to talk him down to $2,000 for both. I have an A with every attachment you can about imagine and love it. If you are looking for just a nice tractor to own for fun and use just a little, I like the C's & SC's. In fact, I would sell you one or more if you're interested and they are all redone already.

$1200 is a very good price for an A with implements and good sheet metal. I'm not sure about the Super A, might be a good deal except for the weld and rough sheet metal.

Jesse- If all you want is an old tractor to fix up for pulling a wagon ,the A sounds best if you need the extra horse power and hydrolics let the super A pass.....watch "PHOTO ADDS" nice ones are in there all the time..... I have bought 4 tractors out of there with good results.....

Depends on what you need the tractor for. If you just want a nice old tractor, maybe for mowing or pulling a wagon, I"d get the A. Exceptional tin means a lot. Nice sheetmetal brings big money when you need to buy it! Just my opinion ....Stan

I'd be interested in your logic. Are you afraid of the weld or the extra price? The alternator conversion is worth an extra $100 by itself. If the weld is holding and not leaking or in a precarious spot I wouldn't be afraid of it.

If the A has magneto ingnition, I would prefer the 6 volt system .Alternators are good with Battery ingnition. The very straight tin on the A also would be a plus. The weld on the super has me concerned .Every time I have had a welded block it has come back to bite me in the but.I could be swayed to the Super with new tires or power lift or some other feature but not as discribed.
