I have a 52 H and I think the wrong muffler is on it. It just has a muffler sitting down inside the manifold and the muffler flops all around while driving it. I noticed on a lot of H's and M's there is like a metal tube that goes into the manifold then the muffler slides over that peice and it is clamped. Any help would be appreciated as to where I could buy what I need.

Go to your local plumbing shop,Tell the guy to cut you a 10in piece of blk schedule 40 iron pipe. leave one plain Cut a deep thread on the other end. clean the manifold threads as good as you can,Using a deep thread will reach into the good threads in the manifold. If you can find a 2in pipe tap use it to clean the threads but remember manifolds will crack very easy.

2 inch pipe is 2-3/8 inches in diameter.

Put the hinge on the flapper toward the carb and the exhaust will blow to the left and stay out of your face in road gear.

Martin all you need is a 2 inch black iron pipe threaded on one end you can make it any length you want i have mine sticking out of the hood about a foot to raise the muffler up higher because the gas fumes chock me to death when running doun the road

Martin,

'Taint the best picture, but should give you an idea.

Like Howard says, ya need that exhaust pipe; maybe yours has "weathered" away?

Yes, There should be a piece of pipe threaded into you manifold (I think it's 1 1/2) The threads in your manifold are likely bad but maybe you could weld the pipe in.

H and M both use a 2 inch pipe.
