hello everyone and happy thanksgiving! anyhow i have a 706 wich the ta forgets to go into low sometimes. so i bought a used ta either for a core so i can get it rebuilt and switch mine out, or rebuild the new one myself and put it into the tractor. so i was wondering is there anything really difficult about rebuilding these things. also what is usually wore out and what needs to be changed because im in there. from the parts book, and the it manual it doesnt sound to hard, just have never done one, and im not sure what wears out in them. thanks for any help,
nate

nate: The vet is correct, why bother with the extra core. Split the tractor remove the old unit, and take it in for an exchange.

As for your question on what wears these out, USE my friend, and ABUSE is worse. Who ever thought tractors would run forever with no repairs or rebuilds?

If it was me i would have never bought a used one even for a core because when ya pull your out ya got the core and if ya don't know what it came out of and ya did not get the gear with it it is useless . As far as rebuilding one myself it is not worthe my time when ya get a rebuilt one with the gear and If you do it correctly it has waranty if you screw it up then it does not . And i think yyou will find that buying the parts that are needed it will cost ya more and ya don't have the tooling to do it.
