Hello All
I recently bought a model 300 and it runs fine, adapted a 3pth snow blower, but when the outside temp. dropped the hyraulics would not function. Soon as the temp went up to about 40F the system worked fine.
I believe that it is the condensation in the hyd.reservoir that gets into the valves that causes the problem.
How do I correct this problem?
Tractor stored outside and temp can get down to -40f

Thanks
Dave

Agree with the other posts. Many years ago on the farm we had the same trouble. Try the oil change first and that might just do it. The filter is a real Bi-----ch. Cover the tractor with a big tarp to keep water out. Put the old oil in plastic buckets and cover them up. After a few weeks the water will settle to the bottom. In sub zero weather the water freezes and drops to the bottom better than in warm weather. Strain it VERY carefuly and reuse. If not it makes a great weed killer in the summer when you spray it on wild rose bushes.

Hey guys..try this...
Take one of those automotive style drain pans, pour some hydraulic fluid into it,allow some water to mix in (rain or add water manually),let it set out in the spring, and watch what happens.Small flies and mosquitos will be attracted to the pan,get caught up in the hydraulic fluid and trapped where they perish.I did this by accident this year and there must have been thousands of flies in that pan! Seriously, the dreaded mosquito was not a problem in the area after that.I did not get bit once! I could only imagine how effective this would be if everyone did it.Can we say, goodbye West Nile virus? I will try it again this spring and try to take a picture this time..it worked amazingly well.

Drain it all out and replace it yearly with Hy Tran equivalent fluid. It could also mean a weak hydraulic pump and/or a semi-plugged pickup screen.
