What is the long rectagular sheet metal cover on the engine block (carburetor side of the engine)? Mine has some holes rusting through and is seeping some antifreeze. I can either try to repair with JB Weld or get a replacement cover maybe on ebay (dont know which is easiest).

C&G emailed me back. They have the part for $55. Thanks for the replies as to the name of the cover.

I have been searching the parts companies on the net and have not found it listed yet. Anyone know of someone who sells one?

It's the water jacket plate. If it is rusted through, chances are the parts that direct water between the cylinders are rusted away as well.

Personally, I would buy a new one. Probably available from Bermuda Ken at cngco.com 1-866-FARMALL, or other places.

Actually it is called the water header cover, but the IH parts manual is the only place that calls it that way.

The rectangular hole is directly into the waterjacket. Drain the mix, and remove the cover.
Clean the cover (or bead blast it) and braze up the holes from the back side. (and any thin spots) cut a new gasket, or buy one, and paint/reinstall.
My 7 cents
