766 remote hyd. were slow so i replaced hitch 12 GPM pump with new 17 GPM pump. With little improvment. Engine RPM must be at least 1200 RPM to lift 15' batwing shredder. I have another smaller tractor that will lift it at idle. Is this normal if not what could the problem be ?
Also both the MCV & Hitch pump whine a little and steering is slow. Fluid & filter is new.

How about the three point lift? Will it lift a heavy load satisfactorily at low speeds or only at middle to high engine speed like the remotes? With a new pump, clean fluid and filter , system should have a test pressure of 1900-2100 psi according to I&T shop manual. If pressure is not as stated, renew relief valve which is available only as a unit.

With both pumps whining a little, could be sucking air somewhere in suction lines to pumps. perhaps someone else can elaborate on this.

I don't have a 3 point on tractor. I&T manual only mentions relief valve on MCV pump. If there is a another valve do you know where it's located. If it's sucking air do both share same tube? I'm going to test presure tomorrow. I&T only shows presure at high idle 2800 RPM at that RPM it moves fairly fast, but not as fast as 60 HP Zetor with 11 GPM pump. It ticks me off!

Well now your problem is that your hdy. filter can not flow enough thru it for the 17 gal pump and you would have been better off with the 12 and replacing the pressure regalator and moving up to a 2100 or 2250 . Now this is what i was told by one of my suppliers that the hdy filter was only designed for 14 gal a min. now like i said this is what i was told as i was thinking about putting a 17 gal pump on one of my 706's that i had a loader on .

tractor vet, I wonder if your supplier knows what he is talking about. It seems strange to me that the Farmall models of 06-56's had 12gpm pumps and the International (wheatland versions) had 17 gpm pumps and they both used the same filter. Yet the International versions apparently worked satisfactorily to the full capacity of the pump.

Worked on IH over 40 years have put in alot of 17 gal. pumps in 06 and 56 series tractors no problem with filter. Possible blown o-ring on draft control valve or ring between rear housing and deck lid. If you have another IH 06,56,66 or 86 series tractor around switch the relief valve. maybe different pressure but they will all fit. also make sure the hitch position lever is not all the way down. This will dump most of the oil to the remotes. Could be stuck action control valve on the draft control valve

Relief valve in right hand seat support. Right behind where hyd.valve control handles mount. Takes 1-1/8 socket. The relief valve will probably have a part number stamped on it. It's a hex head real thin head. When you remove the relief valve look about an inch in the hole there should be an o-ring and backup washer. Have seen the o-ring blow very rare but has happened This can also cause the problem you have.

The hydraulic lift system's relief valve is located in the right seat support. On the right side of the support you will see a small four side plate. Just to the front of this plate are three hex head plugs ,the top one, toward the front is the relief valve. If you have an I&T manual look toward the back of the manual. There is a large section devoted to the Hydraulic Lift System.

I am just going by what i was told as to the truth to it don't know for sure as i have never tryed one myself but there was another company that was tryen to get me to sell there stuff and they also said the same thing and that they had this here add on kit to stack two hd. filters to improve flow so you could use the 17 gal . pump it stuck out the side of the housing the length of the second filter and all i could see was getting it knocked off so i never tryed one out like i said this is what i was told and since we don't have any working wheatlands in my part of the countryand all i have ever seen is the 12's
