I read the manual re checking the oil level...about opening the two petcocks and viewing the level. But, while I can unscrew them against their stop, they don't come off to see the level and wondered if I am missing something?

When you turn the small handle 1/4 turn and oil doesn't drip out, run a piece of wire through the
opening into the oil pan. It's possible dirt may
them clogged them when being used in a field. Hal

It is possible, if it hasn't been checked for a long time, they are stopped up.

the petcocks dont come out. there is a hole in the bottom of the petcock assy. that the oil seeps from. If no oil seeps from the bottom one, close it and open the upper one and fill with oil until you see oil begin to seep from it.

I believe your right, but you might want a second opinion. My super m has a separate filler cap where oil goes in but I do belive this is where you fill yours.

Thanks for the replies..... .
So if I get this right, When I open the top petcock, if the oil level is good, oil should drip out of the valve...If it is not full, no oil will drip out.
Oil should def. drip out of the lower petcock, if not, it is waaay to low. Petcock should act like fuel valve.....unscrew all the way to open to get it to drip.

You don't unscrew the petcocks. You turn the little handle on top 1/4 turn. Hal

You need to turn the handle on the petcocks 90 degrees to open them. Give it time to drip a little, oil may be a little thick when it's cold.
The oil level should at least be at the lower
petcock. I would add enough so it drips from the upper one if it's low. Hal

Fill it until oil just starts to come out of the top one.

When oil doesn't come out the bottom one, add a quart.
