About a week ago I found the gear on the drisbutor housing was worn down and not turning the distributor cam. I have another gear now but the Cam that turns the distributor rotor turns very difficultly. I can bearly turn it with my hand. I have oiled it but not much difference. My question is the cam supposed to be that hard to turn?
thanks, Jerry

A dist should turn pretty easy, my guess is you have bad bushings etc in the dist.

I agree with Old.
The shaft should turn freely with a bit of resistance when a cam lobe opens the points.
there are bushings inside the housing that may be gummed up with old grease. I'd disassemble it and clean every part, then lube it as described in the manual.
