Went to Wally World this afternoon after ascertaining with my load tester that Puffy the M had a bad battery. Took it in, plopped it up on the counter, said, Got a bad one here. She says we'll have to charge it up and check it out. I say okie dokie, whatever. It's 28 and too cold to do anything but browse the isles anyway. Come back in 20 minutes, she says It's bad. Duh. I say okay, I need a new one. She says Ok. Brought it over, had the assistant automotive parts manager check all the paperwork, had me sign all the paperwork, and then carried it out to the truck, no charge, and an apology for the thing going bad. Imagine that, a warranty that actually worked. Harley

We bought a brand new 6 volt to put in one of our tractors. After an hour of running, it started to drip battery acid out from under the cover. I inspected its markings. According to the markings, it was not a brand new battery, because it had been made over 3 years before we bought it. Took it back to the battery store, and the manager said we were lying, and that they don"t carry batteries that old on hand. He also said that the records for purchasing it weren"t in the computer, so it can"t be true. He then said in our case, he needed a receipt. We showed him the receipt and said that there is no way that could happen, but that he would exchange it. I think that battery was sitting in back, and had been turned in for warranty. The kid who took care of us couldn"t find one, so just filled up that one and handed it to us. I can"t prove it, but at least we got a different one.

Hey that's great Harley. I had the same thing happen at Oreilys a few weeks ago. My alt. in the old truck just went plain old nuts. It wouldn't charge at all then it would charge at 18 volts. My lights would go dim then bright. Long story short, took it back and they said it was fine after testing. I put it back on same thing. Took it back and the guy said it was doing what it was suposed to do. He asked what it was off of. When I told him his said Uh oh. This is an alt for an Chevett without AC. It was supposed to be for an 86 1/2 ton with a small block 400 and AC. They gave me a $89 alt for free. I have been running the wrong alt since 1999. Wondered why the charge dropped off so bad a stop lights with the AC on.

What's amazing at Osmileys is that they were able to even understand what you were talking about without the computer on. I've just given up on them down here. It's either Bumper to bumper, got to keep Jimmy King busy you know, or Wally World. Harley
