Very slow in the shop where I work so the boss and I are working on his A ,which is not bad getting paid to work on a hobby you enjoy . it is a 1947 international A , as we are taking it apart we have found that the tractor was at one time yellow .IS this the original color, I heard the old red paint could fade to a yellow color but I dont think this is the case.anybody ever heard of a yellow A or better yet have pictures

The military used these tractors too and painted
them olive drab green. They may have been painted by IH. Some are owned by some of the men that post on here. They have the foot throttle too. The miltary used big Case dual wheeled tractors for towing heavy artillery to firing ranges. Hal

I too have what I believe is an International Super A that was at one time painted yellow. I say it was a Super A because it has the hydraulics. It does have the square tube axle mentioned in another response. There are a few other things that appear to be different than the Farmall Super A including a different rockshaft on the hydraulic unit. It is far too faded to read the decals (or the serial tag) and besides it has been subsequently painted red.

My plan is to one day spruce it up and paint it yellow. The rockshaft does have a part number so I am thinking some day I will be able to track down the model through a parts manual.

As another poster said (and according to the farmall expert... is it Guy) they would paint these things any color you wanted if you bought enough of them.

Anyone know other indicators of whether it is a farmall or international?

It's probably a IA (industrial "A") I have one. Is the front end square instead of round? Just a thought.

IHC would paint the tractor any color. Lots of International A's were sold to state highway departments and were painted yellow or orange rather than red. This may be the case of your tractor.
