Finally got the brake replacement for my right brake for my Super A from OEM tractor parts the other day. First thing I noticed was that the radius was slightly larger than the original brake. Question is, have any of you found this to be a problem after reassembly? The left brake was fine other than some gear lube that had leaked on it from a bad seal, but plenty of life on the lining after I cleaned it up. Just wondering. I also glass beaded both brake hubs to remove the glaze.

I think you'll be fine with the band. Didn't the glass bead leave the drums rough? I usually have mine turned on a brake lathe. They can turn outside drums if they set it up right. Usually the biggest right brake problem is a worn out pedal bracket; the pedal flops around instead of pulling the break band.

Hi Dan, The glass bead I used is very fine and just slightly roughs up the surface. I could have brought the hub into work and turned it on a lathe but thought that would work OK. Yep, I bushed the brake pedals to get rid of the slop as you mentioned. Im just glad the radius is slightly bigger than smaller on the brake bands. Thanks for the reply!

One other consideration is to be sure you adjust both brakes equally, so if you have to stop fast it doesn't spin around on you.
