The rubber hose connecting the air cleaner pipe to the carb on my M looks pretty rough. What"s the best way to get a replacement? Do I need to just buy a radiator hose that"s the same diameter and cut off the section I need?

I cut a piece of leather and wrapped it around and clamped it. Worked good. Gas wont eat it up.

Don't use radiator hose. The gas from the carb will eat it. Get the right hose from IH or any place that sells hose that can take gas. It will cost more than radiator hose.

Been using radiator hose for 50pluss yrs now and it works. Anyway gas aint supposed to be running out of carb. I-H dealer will cut off length from bulk radiator hose also.

Just take the old hose to any parts store that has bulk hose.

NAPA has it. I have several tractors, when I buy hoses like that, I will buy a foot or so to have enough for the next time. Unless you have a very sharp knife and can cut straight, a tubing cutter is nice too.

Hose size is 2.25" ID by 2.25" long - 8 ply per the parts catalog. OEM at 1-800-283-2122 has them for sale at $5.00 in their catalog. With shipping might be a little much unless you need other items. Check with NAPA or other good autoparts store - don't know if 2.25" ID is common or not. Good luck. Hal
