Kinda new to this motor and got a complete one yesterday that needs a little inspecting to see why a miss in one hole. Then planning to drop it in a 460 farmall that I have setting here to see if I can get some horsepower at 5000-6000 lbs. Is this a motor you can tweek a bit without getting burned? What rpm were they set to run at and were they used only in the 66 tractors or also in the combines? In doing the measurements, it looks like with a few mods it should slip into the 460 frame pretty easy. I'm sure we will run into some problems with front plate and air cleaner and fan brackets, but we've got some pretty good I.H engineers(or shop jockeys anyway) here so we will see. Maybe end up with a 566 or something. So am I totally crazy or is this a plan. Thanks for any and all ideas and yes you can be negative if you wish. I'm a big boy now and can take it. Migraine

Well i guess that i am the expert here on them as i have been in one tomany of them. If it is droppen one hole it more then likely has a burnt valve . If ya want one to last FIRST off ya need to run LOW ASH OIL in a 30 weight SECOND OFF ya need the 93 octain gas in it and they do not take kindly to to much advance on the timeing . I rework the carbs and tweek them a bit by using and 806 ventura and reaming the main jet a vary littel .
