OK. It is late and I am stumped. I put new ignition parts on a 574 gasser that had a miss. Took care of the miss, but now the tractor sputters and has no power. What have I missed? I set the new points at 0.020" and gapped the plugs at 0.025". Also new plug wires, coil, and condenser.

Got it going. I had plug wires two and three switched. Thanks for the help.

We had a 574 gas and all of a sudden it would just quit. Then it would restart and run for a while. I pulled the gas bowl out of the tank and found that the stem was cloged with dirt. Put a new one in and it ran fine.

Are the plug wires copper? You need to pull the
coil wire from the distributor cap and place within a 1/8 to 1/4" of a good ground. You can hold it with a pair of insulated pliers so it doesn't bite you. Then have someone to attempt
an engine start and watch the fire from that coil wire. Should be nice and blue. Is this a -
negative grounded battery? If it is, the negative
terminal on your coil; the wire from this terminal should go to your distributor. Hal
PS: When you replace the plug wires did you replace one at a time? Your plug wires should be installed like this on the cap if rotor turns CW.
2-1
4-3 The firing order is 1-3-4-2
