Ok I got the fast hitch to work right (when I pull the lever back it goes up and down it goes down) However it goes up slow and down fast. Before I took the hoses off is did the opposite. Also to when it goes up you can here the engine "work" with out anything on the hitch. Yet I can put a block of wood under the draw bar and it will lift the back of the tractor off the ground like theres nothing there!! what is going on here? really confused now!?!?!
Thanks for the help Andrew

Push forward, hitch goes up. Pull back, hitch goes down. Mine works fine both ways, and does not leak back down..Cmore

You have the hoses reversed; my Super C works hard going down because of the check valve and lifts up easily.
The lever should pull down to go down & push forward to lift.

Reminds me of when I was showing off my newly-purchased Cub to a friend. I stood beside it, hit the starter and trapped my foot under the raised Woods mower which dropped immediately under the downward hydraulic unit pressure (I had monkeyed with the touch control lever while it was not running). Unfortunately, the tractor did not start and I could not raise the mower, so my foot was stuck in excruciating pain! I screamed at my buddy to help me lift the mower off my foot. Fortunately, the Cub being relatively light, and some adreneline flowing from us both, we freed my foot with no lasting damage. Yeah, I still stand beside my tractor from time to time to crank it, like an idiot, but I NEVER put my foot under the mower anymore.

The Farmall fast hitch is designed to power both up and down. If you want it to float, there is a pin (or bolt) that secures the collar to the top of the vertical lift rod next to the cylinder. Pull this pin and the collar will allow the hitch to move up independantly. I use this when plowing with guage wheel on plow to set depth, on brush hog, disk, etc. Using the hitch and a block of wood to lift rear of tractor is covered in the owner's manual. They recommend it! We also use the down pressure, with a worksaver, a post pounder, and a chain to place steel fence posts.

I"ve got a Super C fast hitch installation manual so here goes. Hose from frt of control valve goes back to left side of check valve in frt of seat and the right hose to the rear control valve port. The cylinder is mounted with the hose ports forward, left hose under seat to left side of check valve and right to right. Push lever forward to raise hitch. The hitch goes up fast and down slow, which I think most of them did. I didn"t like that slow down stroke so on mine I took a wild guess and drilled out two of the check valve ports a little. It works good now, up fast, down faster than before, and the hitch never creeps down with engine off for months. Jim

They were designed to power down slow. Probably
to keep from breaking an implement when lowering.

I am not familiar with the details of the remote valve set-up on a Super C. But most of the reasonably modern hydraulic systems have check valves and restrictors to keep equipment from crashing into the ground. You can't just swap hoses at the cylinder and expect everything to work right. You probably now have a restrictor that keeps your hitch from crashing up into the air.

My Super A does that, and does not have a remote cylinder or a block. If the controls that operate the front rockshaft do the same, something is plugged in the reservoir/control unit under the gas tank. I'm going to disassemble and overhaul mine someday.

Sounds like there's a restriction in the valve or in that block where the hoses all connect, especially since the behavior swapped directions when you swapped hoses.
