Mornin' Guys,

Darned 3-point on my 966 "hunts". It doesn't matter where the draft is set either.

It will drop 'bout 2" and they yank itself back up; drops and yanks continually.

Have I got a leak at the piston o-ring? Or, is the sensitivity on that torsion bar linkage haywire or somethin'?

Thanks,

Allan

Same with my 966. Not a two inch, just sort of a hiccup. But drops when the tractor is shut down, maybe takes a half hour. Been like that now over a year. I just keep using it.

hey bud, the ole 766 does it too. on heavy loads it"s fine, stays up all day and night with load on, running or not. put a light load on running and she goes to hoppin. dunno what to tell you. it doesn"t bother me so i don"t worry, very few light loads here.

Allan Do the over night test to see if it goes all the way down. If so you have a leak. There are more then just the Piston seal and the cushion relief valve. You could have an o ring between the valve body and the cylinder. You should be able to see the cushion relief through the 2" X 3" plate under the seat. You could let the hitch all the way down and look at it through the third link hole to see if it has score marks in it.

We always call it hiccupping around here. Our 966 doesn't do it at all. However, our 806's fast hitch really hammers. When it is cold, it usually doesn't do it. As the fluid warms up, it will jerk once every 6 seconds or so. Then when you really work the hydraulics and the tractor, or have a heavy load on the hitch, it just never stays at one setting. Every half second it jerks up and falls down. It also causes the drawbar (in your case the hitch arms) to fall after the tractor is shut off. I would like to know what causes it too, so I can get ours fixed. I think it is a lift piston seal, but am not really sure.

Hmmmm,

My IT manual says piston seal or cushion valve.

Funny thing is, I didn't notice it at all on the heavy implements, just this light little post hole digger; so I'm questioning that piston seal failure.

If the hitch were to fall after the tractor is shut off, that would for sure point at the piston, I'd think. I don't remember mine doing that; I'll have to do some more checking this morning.

Dunno, just 'taint right, that's fer sure. Makes my neck tired watchin' it go up and down. :>)
