Wanting to convert my S/M from 6 to 12v, other than an alternator and wiring and coil is there anything else I will need ?

12v bulbs for the lights is a good idea. There are only two items other than that. Almost all alternators today are equipped with a fusable link to prevent melt down in case of failure. This is available from NAPA and should be connected in series with the wire going from the amp meter to the solenoid/starter switch. The fuse link amps should be the same as the alternator output. (I won't do a conversion without one). The Amp meter should also be rated for the alternator output + 20%. IH gages are not that high capacity.
