OK, I DECIDED TO TAKE THIS THING TO THE IH DEALER AND JUST LET THEM FIX IT. I FIRED IT UP TO DRIVE THE EIGHT MILES TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEN WENT AROUND THE BACK TO HANG AN SMV EMBLEM. THE PTO WAS RUNNING. I GUESS I LEFT IT ON WHEN I WAS PLAYING WITH IT. I TRIED IT MANY TIMES AFTER THIS ON AND OFF, IT WORKS JUST FINE. HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THAT? I GUESS I'LL JUST USE IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!

OK TIME FOR A STUPID QUESTION
WHAT IS THE IMPORTANCE OF CHECKING THE PRESSURE JUST BECAUSE I CHANGED THE PIN? CAN I GET TO THE PIN JUST BY REMOVING THE REAR COVER THAT THE SHAFTS RUN OUT OF OR IS THIS A MAJOR TEAR DOWN?

Because when ya unscrew the top nut it changes the pressure as that is how you adjust the pressure by screwen the nut up or down Up to raise pressure and down to reduce it and ya want to set it as i have alway done it on them at around 245-260 this will make sure that you never slip thru the clutch pack and if ya go to high it can either warp the clutch pack or blow out the clutch pack snap ring. That is why i gave you the part# of the fitting now one guy said that you can drill out a bolt and use that well maybe so but i would and never had done that as when ya work on other peoples tractors it had better be wright all it takes is one bad job to ruin a reputation , does not matter how many good jobs ya do it only takes one that is why i have give ya just about all that ya need to fix a PTO and advised you to get and I T manual as i did not tell ya everything i figured if ya wanted more you would ask.

Harlen you could drill a hole in a matching screw and make a fitting but the threads for the port are extra fine I don't think you will find a screw to fit. The little pin is where I would look fitst. The valve has to go out the bottom of the pto.

There's a little pin that holds two parts of the PTO operating valve together down inside the valve body.

When it breaks, the lower part of the valve spool is not raised up, to actuate the PTO, when the upper part is pulled up by the linkage from the PTO lever.

It's pretty easy to replace, a service manual with an exploded view would help, though.

It's important to check the PTO clutch operating pressure after repairs are made.

But to do that he needs the special fitting and that is not that easy to come by Part # 384328R1 then he needs a gauge that will read atleast 600 lbs. and sometimes ya have to remove the drawbar support to drop the valve out .

The adapter fitting for the gauge is simple to make, though. Drill a small hole in a natching bolt, then braze a coupling to it.

Well Bob since it is a Hdy fitting plug WITH and O/RING it is sorta hard to find a bolt with the thread size and a grove for the O/RING now isn't it . Now if ya had the plug you could drill and weld and screw around , But the kicker is tryen to find and extra PLUG of that size but you could run over to your neighbors tractor and borrow his .
