Started working a little on the 450 last night. Got it pretty well cleaned up and started working on the hood. I got the lettering off and I thought the white was paint. It looks like the white is some sort of tape or vinyl. Is this true...and if so can you still get it. It is not in the decal set I bought. Is the 350 the same way?

I have never seen those decals offered, but they are quite easy to cut from regular UV resistant white vinyl (see your local decal or sign shop). They are easy to apply. After cleaning the tin where the decal is to be applied, remove the decal backing and spray a soap and water solution directly on the sticky surface of the decal. Position close to where it belongs, and move it until it fits perfect...then all you have to do is lightly squeegee the surface of the decal to force the water out from behind it and it"ll stick! Voila! Perfect decals evertime! Just do an online search under "decal application" and you may come up with directions with a bit more of an in-depth description of the process!

I found the decals for my 450 at Carter & Gruenewald. They show them for the 450 left side & right side. I don't know if it is the same decal for the 350. I'm sure that you could call them and find out. Worst case is probably painting using the same paint as the grill.

Will try and find out where they are. I have fits with large decals...but am willing to try. Worst case...guess I can paint it.
Thanks.

Try this:

About 3/4 of the way down. $32.50 each. Not cheap, but it depends on how original you want to be.

No, the white on the 350s and 450s was actually a decal, I doubt if any of them exist today.
