I admit to being a dummy first. I had a message on awhile back about the tractor back-firing and dying. Before I found this site, I thought I would have to take the front cover off. Got as far as pulling the governor out without marking how it goes back in and now I can't seem to get the thing in far enough to slide into the little cross gizmo which the governor has a notch for. I've tried cog by cog while rotating it a bit each time but no luck. Help, Please!!

I got the governor back in finally but it still won't pop. The distributor rotor is about 45 degrees away from pointing at #1 when the notch on the crank pulley is lined up with the arrow. This should be #1 TDC, correct???? If so, how do I get the rotor to the right spot? Sorry for being such a ditz. Any help is appreciated.
