Can anyone tell me how much hp the live hyd. pump takes. How much do you gain by removing the pump if any? (400 farmall)

The unloaded power loss in the 400 live pump is only a few tenths of a HP - too small even to be noticed.

However when the hydraulics are actually stoking a cylinder, at maximum pump RPM/pressure the pump requires 10 - 12 HP.

It takes one HP to pump one GPM at 1500psi. A 10 gpm 1500 psi pump at 1500psi output will need 10 hp to run it. Jake
