If you park the front end in a ditch you don't even have to drain the hyd. oil out of the tractor.

Well not a real big deal other then ya have to comp;etly tare it apart THe big thing is not to bang -damage the pickup tube when ya pull it out . The best way is to use a cherry picker and a short chain about two to two and a half feet long and attach it to one of the top bolts near the center and use a long pointed punch to tip the nose up as you come out , then ya need to make up a couple special tools one as a spring compressor and the other to go over the shaft to press the plate and spring down a pice of 2 1/2 inch pipe about 6 inches long and weld a cap on it then cut about a third od the open end out so you have access for the snap ring pliers and snap ring as for the spring compressor a flat pice of plate that is 8 inches long and three inches wide and atleast half inch thick. and ya need two pices of 3/8th all thread 13 inches long and four nuts and a couple flat washer . The demenshoins on the pipe are as i just checked mine are six inches long by 2 1/2 and the slot is cut up into the pipe 2 /34 of and inch and like i said cut out about a third of the pipe now you have the main tools to pull it apart along with a real good snap ring pliers and i do mean good one keep in mind that that spring can take your head off. And while your in there ya just migh as well replace the clutch pack and install the hd. one then the other thing ya need is the special fitting to set the pressure , this is a special fitting that can only be had from case i h so here is the way ya get it go to your friendly Case I H parts dept and tell the guy that you need this here part # it is 384328R1 oriface but don't tell him what it is just tell him that it is a fitting that you need . then ya have to make up a hose and fittings with a good gauges that will handel 600 lbs. pressure . And a IT manual will also help. your to far away for me to fixit for ya as it only takes me about three hours from draining the tractor to setting the pressure . Did like six of them one year back to back .

Remove PTO unit from tractor. Dissassemble PTO unit. Replace shaft. Reassemble unit. Install back in tractor. Check PTO clutch pressure (adjust if needed). RUN.

Ya the short version . One thing i do enjoy is working on them and it has got to the point that i know what i need for the job and only have to go to the tool box one time as everything i need is on the cart. But since i am getting old i do have to use the manual for the specs. must be sometimers setting in.
