I would use 5-30 thats what i use in the B t hat pushes the snow. I am just south of you 50mi The trany calls for 90wt and dont worry about the wedge till you get the steeringall checked out tires bearings repack is a must check steering u-joint under hood. Lube and seals in steering sector get yourself a CHAR-LYNN power steering with seperate pump that fits under hood without cutting hood. Try FRANZENS at MOUNMOTH they mite have one.

Hi , Thanks , From the size of the pan I guess it'll hold about 4 or 5 quarts . Another question - is the transmission and final drive all one , in other words , is it one long reservour that has to be drained on both ends . That's what it looks like anyway . How much gear oil does it hold . I hope my operators manual get here soon so I can get some things done to this thing :')

I think I figured out the hard steering - the front tires were low . Put 40 lbs in them and it works much better . Steering u-joint is ok , lower zerk on the bolster took grease , don't know if there's a upper one or not I haven't looked yet . Take care ...Randy

Randy, My M owners manual states the differential/transmission case holds 13 gallons. And yes they are both together. Should be forward and rear drains on the centerline of the tractor at the bottom of the casting. There is a level plug on the left hand (clutch side) which is a four sided pipe plug about half way up the casting. Fill too that level. Best to change oil filter and crankcase at the same time. The crankcase holds 8 quarts. Put in the 8 quarts and add whatever is necessary to have oil appear at the upper petcock on the oil pan once the oil filter has filled after a short startup. Hal

I always recomend a good multi grade oil. Use the same oil you keep for your car and pickup truck. Any of the new 85-90 gear oils are way ahead of what was once used in the rearend. Don't know where yo would buy a wedge. I have one for an H.
