bill m. a friend of mine sold 3 w-40s at auction this year and they brought from 3500.00- 6000.00.all of them were running but only one was painted. at the same time you may not get even close to that in some parts of the country and depending on the economy.like one of the boys said earlier, is it restored, running, pto, keronsene manifold, rubber tires, steel wheels, stuck, tractor or truck engine, good or bad sheet metal? etc. to most buyers all of this sets the price. good luck, russ

I doubt whether you will get much of a response on your question. People are constantly asking on this forum what something is worth. How can you expect anyone here to give you an estimate when you have provided no useful information? A 1936 WK-40 could mean a pile of junk worth no more than scrap or it could be perfectly restored with rare options. I'll give you scrap price for it without even looking. It weighs around 6500#s, and with scrap at around $100 per clean ton in Ohio, it's worth maybe $500. I'll have to deduct trucking charges to get it back here, so it's probably worth maybe $300 or less at this point. Let me know.

I can't believe the generosity of this guy. When I was looking for a WK40 it was impsooible to find anthing less than $1800. Most were stuck and needed care. To offer the price he did and his reasoning is a insult to the owner and those who have tractors to sell.

What would you have told him based on a description of a 1936 WK-40?? The point was simple. If you want any kind of idea on value, you have to provide as much information as possible. A WK-40 in British Columbia, Canada, is worth a whole lot less to me that one 5 miles away from me back here in Ohio. Plus, what if I told him it's worth $2000, and he sells it to the first guy that asks, then he finds out that it was on round spokes, with electric start and factory lights, perfect manifold, parked in a shed it's entire life, original paint, etc., etc, etc. Then he's all PO'd at me for telling him what I did. Value is extremely subjective to the individual buyer. Auction prices are totally different than private sales. The pertubations are endless. There is no set value on anything, period.

Bill, The rarest option is probably factory electric lights, followed by factory starting system. Factory equipped round spokes add considerable value, also. If it has the above options and they work or are in good shape, you could add $1500 to $2000 to the asking price. A value for what you describe if it was sitting right here in my yard could be something like $2500 give or take $500. But without seeing it, that is only a very rough ballpark.
