This is a tale of my missing 400. In July I had been parking my 400 in the middle of my hay field. My land is about 30 mi north of me, so trucking her back and forth is not a good option.
I had met the neighbor accross the rd a few times wile I had been baling. He seemed like a nice fellow. We had talked about me doing some of his hay and he also offered to let me park my equipment in his yard so as to not be so unsecured. Nice gesture I thought. SO the last time I was up there I parked my 400 right next to one of his out buildings. The rest of my junk I left on my side of the rd.

Ok so now you have the set up.

Saturday before last I take a run up to grab my Trailer as I need to run to Wisc and pick up a new plow for my 400. When I get there I take a look on his place to see if my 400 is safe and sound.
I cant see it!!!! I drive in thinking maybe he put it in one of his out buildings with his tractors.
I notice that the locks and shackles on all the buildings had been knocked off. Oh Oh I think this is not looking good.
I open the shed and every thing is gone. I mean every thing. All his tools , welders. All his tractors and he had 5 of them. All his 4 wheelers. And of course my 400 was gone.
Cleaned out!
He lives in Bloomington so I figured some one pulled up with a big trailer and gutted the place.

I grab my trailer that is still safe and sound accross the rd on my place and drive home. Feeling kind of depressed to say the least.

When I get home I call one of the Neighbors up there, figuring no ones going to get a couple of semi loads of tractors out of there with out some one seeing it.

I get a hold of Jim and ask him if he had seen or heard of any thing going on at Guys place as I think he had been robbed and my 400 was also missing.

Jim says " I thought that was your 400 the Feds were hauling out of there." HUH?????

Come to find out this guy was some kind of big drug dealer. My 400 has been impounded because it was on his property and in the process of being forfeted with his stuff.

To make a long story a little less long. After a week or so of tracking down info and talking to a bunch of FBI, DEA, Police and county people.

I have found my tractor!!!
Its in a DEA impound lot down in the cities.
I have a few more hoops to jump through and some more red tape to cut. They need to get some one in Washington to say its ok to release my tractor.
Then I can go get her.
WHEW what a mess. But at least my 400 is not been chopped for parts.

If you have been there for a while, do you know the Belland's that live northeast of town, or Fred Kelling, my Dad's sister was married to him for 20 years, funny to see someone on a web page from close to where you grew up not much in Braham now, but been there many times..

Where about was this deal at, been aroud Braham many times over the years, didn't hear this on the news, and my Dad didn't say anything about it so maybe it didn't make it into the local paper yet, they usually clean these places out really good, herd a story where they even took the sinks and toilets out of a place to get some extra cash, sure hope you get her back but when you deal with government who knows...

Kelly: Having read all this thread to date, if I were you, I'd report the tractor stolen. He offered to store the tractor for you, and it's no longer where you left it. At least have a talk with a good lawyer.

I hope you're ready for the feds to look into parts of your body and your life where the sun don't shine. You're now an associate of a drug dealer. If this druggy scumbag implicates you in any way (would a drug dealer lie to get off?), it could cause you lots of time and trouble. I hope they don't start tearing apart your tractor to find hidden compartments to store drugs. Good Luck!

They can look all they want. They may die of boredom before they find anything.

Bad break all around guy.

I'd give my Congressional Rep. and my Senator a call as well. You would be shocked how fast those Federal boys can get their "mind" right after the "money" guys from Congress give them a call and ask why they are picking on one of their hard working honest farmers.

Best of luck!

When i sell a tractor i always give the person a bill of sale with the seiral No. make and model and date of sale with my name and phone no. and i have a record of where i bought it from .

I do have the bill of sale. I faxed that over this morning. No SN on it though. But I do have a boat load of photos of it on my web site.
I sent him the URL's of a few of the better ones.

But yes I imagine its going to be a pain in the rump to get her back. But atleast I have a chance.

As for the person who ownes... errr owned the land I owe him a big knuckle sandwich if ever we meet again.
I am going to have to find out when and where the sale is. He had a nice Hydro 70 I would like. Hope I wont be there to buy my 400 back:-)

ROLF!!!

I am going to look for some info on this guy. Aparently it was quite a big drug bust. I heard he was not the only one involved. 4 other country hide your stuff outs were raided.

I did find out he worked at the Bloomington high school as a custodian. Now I am really mad at this scum bucket.

Kelly,

This happened to an outfit up in Great Falls, MT that my folks knew of a few years ago.

I don't wanna be the bearer of bad omens 'er anything, but I think you've lost that tractor.

Getting’ it back away from those Federal boys is gonna take some really fancy footwork.

Hope not,

Allan

A friend of mine, a few years ago, loan his 3020 JD to a neighbor and while it was there the bank forclosed on the neighbor. They told him he would have to buy his tractor back at auction. He waited until everybody left and stole it back and hid it in someone's barn until after the auction, and got away with it.
