Ignition switch has been removed from my 49M, I would like to know if there is a difference between switch for mag and distributor

The one for the magneto just grounds the magneto when you push it in so it only has one connection. When pulled out the switch is open so no current flows. The one for the battery ignition is a standard single pole switch with one contact and two connections. Switch contacts are open when pushed in, closed (ignition on) when pulled out.

You can get a new one from OEM Tractor Parts for $51.00 (!?!?!?!?!).

Yes by running wire from 1 post to ground but then it will be out to stop and in to run.
