JD has the dain.MM has the UDLX.what about IH? i am not talking about the 7488 or the super 70 series.i mean OLD and RARE.a prototype maybe?
what about a SHTA? i saw a classic tractor show on the 30-60 titan a couple of years ago.maybe that is the rarest.we went to the ag hall of fame sat. at bonner springs ks. and they have a ihc motor culivator on display. its the first one of those i had seen outside a book.
just wondering what you folks thought.

The oldest and rarest IHC "tractor" is the Auto Mower. This was the forerunner of all IH tractors. This was a 3 wheel self propelled "tractor" with a mounted sickle mower bar.

I believe 1 or 2 survive today. The IH archives has one of these. They were made in 1890 something??

I would say the original single cylinder letter series (A-B-C-?)tractors. I had a nice original illustrated catalog a few years ago that I sold on eBay for several hundred $$$. I have never seen one of the tractors.

the oldest ihc tractors were built in upper sandusky ohio. they were the friction drive tractors. there is a small handfull of them left. these were built over ten years before the motor cultivator. the oldest thing that ihc put on wheels was the auto mower but it wasn't a production unit.

I don't know about IH. Massey Harris made a 4WD GP 15-22 a few years. It just didn't catch on.

There are no rare IH's - everything they introduced was wildly successful :D

Utilities with good steering boxes can't be that rare, we have 5 of them. Best thing to avoid the box troubles is to know what you're looking at. Don't buy a ragged-out POS and learn a little about adjusting them.

I must mention a distinction between rare and scarce. Scarce would be a high production tractor that not many have survived (IH 10-20) vs rare (Industrial 660).
Now I would have to say that the motor cultivator would have to be the oldest rarest IH model since not many were made and it is from the teens. Or perhaps the scarce Farmall Regular with the high air intake and the seat attached to the pumpkin cover.

Oh shoot Harley, It ain't a Super and it sure ain't got no TA but it does have long axles and a friction throttle. Maybe you coulad call it the HLASFLPGCS? Now as to rare I am told there were only 155 International 560 Wheatland Propanes made. I know I had the only one at RPRU

IH never made a "SHTA" Sure people have made variations of them from 300 and SH sheet metal. Any IH experiments with a "SHTA" became the 300.
